Rail Engineering Solutions LLC plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between clients’ ideas and tangible solutions.
David Wilkerson serves as a pivotal figure in the process of transforming clients’ ideas into tangible solutions, starting from initial discussions to the creation of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings.
His approach begins with active listening, as he diligently absorbs clients’ needs and preferences, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their requirements. This attentive approach lays the foundation for effective communication and collaboration throughout the project.
Utilizing his expertise in CAD software, Wilkerson then translates these discussions into detailed and precise CAD drawings. These drawings serve as visual representations of the proposed solutions, offering clarity and insight into the envisioned outcome.
This step is instrumental in the ways listed below:
CAD drawings provide a clear depiction of the proposed solution, helping to clarify concepts and ideas discussed during initial conversations.
Through the CAD process, Wilkinson can iteratively refine designs based on client feedback, ensuring that the final product aligns closely with their expectations.
By providing visual representations, CAD drawings facilitate alignment between client expectations and the final product, reducing the likelihood of misunderstandings or discrepancies.
Overall, Wilkerson’s role is essential for translating clients’ visions into actionable plans, driving the successful execution of projects from conception to completion.

High Visibility Cab Design
High visibility cab design designed by David Wilkerson’s team to meet a site-specific production requirement. Photo shows first production move of 28 loaded 143-ton wagons at customer’s site.
Low Speed Loading Requirement
A specific requirement for a minimum controlled low speed (.37kp/h) loading and unloading. David’s team once again exceeded the client’s contractual requirement. The dependability and reliability resulted in the initial order of five units being followed by an additional two locomotives two years later.
Diesel Electric Locomotive Design & Build
This locomotive was built to a specific requirement for a client as a rescue, for steam locomotives in service and was the client’s first diesel electric locomotive. The client was so pleased with the performance, they decided to run dining and special trains with this locomotive.
EPA T4 Emission Standard Diesel Locomotive
Designed and built in house to meet EPA T4 emission standards. This unit was built with two gen-sets; with flexibility for either gen-set to control two traction motors or all four. The locomotive features extensive automation and control systems.
